A better future through education

Mummy sue's school

Providing children with more than just the standard education offered by local schools

"Children must be taught how to think, not what to think."

Founded in the early 2000s and officially registered as a non-profit tuition center in 2024, Mummy Sue’s School offers more than the standard education in Myanmar, where a grade 10 diploma provides limited job prospects. Financial barriers often prevent further education.

Supported by the Andrew Clark Trust and the Joris Foundation, the school now teaches 1,000 children, with free English lessons funded by donations. Thanks to many international visitors, students also develop critical thinking skills. Recognizing the importance of the internet for older students, the school offers free computer lessons. Its motto, “Try, Try and Try Again,” inspires persistence. The original 2005 wooden schoolhouse still stands, alongside two smaller classrooms and the larger Joris Building.

"If every major city in Myanmar had a school like this, the country would be in much better shape."
