Trash for food

Did you know that recycling can alleviate hunger? During the monsoon there is often more hunger in Lintha

"Problems can become opportunities when the right people come together."

During the months when the monsoon hits Lintha, there is often not enough food.

Fishermen can’t go out to sea and earn nothing. There are no tourists either, and everything comes to a standstill. This often leads to hunger among poor families. Since Mummy Sue doesn’t believe in simply handing out aid, she came up with the Trash for Food Program. This program means that if people collect trash for three days, they receive a sack of rice, oil, eggs, etc., in return. It’s a fantastic initiative that not only helps to fight hunger but also raises awareness among poor communities about the importance of proper waste disposal.

Many families have already participated. The school’s teachers supervise the project and ensure that the food reaches the right places.
